The history of tree nursery Rahoens
Sylvain Rahoens, grandfather of Michael founded tree nursery “S. Rahoens”.
The family business was then located behind the monastery, near the village of Oosterzele.
Three generations ago, the company already specialized in ornamental and avenue tree cultivation, a specialization that evolved from father to son into the cultivation of general arboricultural articles.
The second generation was put on the map by Sylvain’s 2 sons, Adriën and Raphaël.
Not only their knowledge of tree cultivation but also an adapted management ensured a lot of success in both national and international destinations.
Because of this transferred knowledge, completed by adequate studies, current manager Michael Rahoens effortlessly distinguishes himself to establish in 1991, together with his wife Christa, a new leading company along the expressway N42 in Oosterzele (easily accessible from E40, exit Wetteren). This current nursery of over 30 ha is a major producer of ornamental, avenue and forest trees. Michaël’s eldest son, Domien, secured the fourth generation of tree nursery Rahoens 15 years ago. The youngest son, Stijn, joined the company after studying Business Management.
